which is really fucking heartbreaking. especially considering that for all intents and purposes he basically attempts suicide at the end.

I had a discussion with my friend while watching this last night about how Loki has seriously internalized the war between Asgard and Jotunheim. In attempting to destroy the “monstrous” Frost Giants, he’s essentially trying to destroy the monster in himself. He wants to eliminate that external representation of the part of himself he’s come to resent and despise. He needs to get rid of that reminder because with Jotunheim gone he can maybe find a way to pretend he’s truly Asgardian, truly a son of Odin. It’s an extreme and desperate attempt to prove that he is loyal to Asgard and is not a part of the race he is committing genocide against.

If anyone ever tells me that Loki has no story line or is not an interesting character I will punch them so hard they will swear they saw a Tardis floating in the sky.
